Channel 7 (HSV-7) Seven Melbourne is part of Australia's Seven network has a combined coverage greater than any other free to air network in Australia.

Channel 7's web site aligned with Yahoo has links to all its favourite shows including Home and Away plus a TV guide. Its digital broadcast centre in Melbourne is located at Etihad Stadium in Docklands.


HSV 7 in Melbourne began broadcasting on 4 November 1956, originally owned and operated by The Herald and Weekly Times. The original HSV 7 building in Dorcas Street, South Melbourne was demolished in November 2008 and its landmark tower dismantled in 2009 to make way for a property development.

Not only were the original 7 studios pivotal in the recording and transmission of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics but it also played an important part in the establishment of celebrities such as: Olivia Newton-John, Barry Humphries and Peter Allen. The HSV 7 studios produced some of Australia's top shows including Homicide, World of Sport, Cop Shop, Penthouse Club, and the Royal Children's Hospital Appeal and more recently, City Homicide.

Good Friday Appeal

The 83rd annual Good Friday Appeal will be held on Friday 18th April 2014 with a live telethon broadcast by Channel 7.

The telethon will be staged at the 2,500 seat Plenary Hall in the Melbourne Convention Centre. The public will be able to purchase tickets to join the live studio audience, with proceeds donated to the Appeal.

Good Friday Appeal Charity Spectacular

Taylor Henderson, Samantha Jade, Mark Seymour and Kate Ceberano will headline the Good Friday Appeal ‘Charity Spectacular’ concert open to the public and live on Seven.

This year Seven’s telecast of the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal will feature a fully-ticketed primetime concert open to the public.

With the Appeal moving to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre at South Wharf this year, the star-studded concert will be staged in the Plenary – MCEC’s 1800-seat, state-of-the-art auditorium – starting at 7pm on Friday April 18.

Some of the biggest names in Australian entertainment will perform at the Charity Spectacular, among them: Taylor Henderson, Samantha Jade, Mark Seymour, Nathaniel, Kate Ceberano, Daryl Braithwaite, The Collective, Joe Camilleri and Boom Crash Opera.

Tickets are $25 for all ages, available online at or by calling 136100, with all proceeds going to the Good Friday Appeal.

Throughout the day, Seven’s telethon will also feature a constellation of Channel Seven stars including Peter Mitchell, Jennifer Keyte and Tim Watson from 7News, David Koch, Sam Armytage and Mark Beretta from Sunrise, The X Factor’s Luke Jacobz and morning TV presenters Larry Emdur and Andrew O'Keefe.

Also making an appearance will be cast members from Seven’s hit dramas Home and Away, A Place To Call Home and Winners and Losers, as well as presenters from Better Homes and Gardens and members of Seven’s AFL commentary team.

The Good Friday Appeal telecast kicks off from 9am on Friday April 18 on Channel Seven.
